Surviving the Final Humid and Stormy Day of the Heat Wave

Today

One more day of grossly hot weather, and this will be the worst of it. Mostly cloudy today with some sun peaking out in the morning and early afternoon. Highs in the low to mid 90s, with feels-like temperatures reaching up to 106 degrees. Extremely humid, with some of the highest dew points we’ve seen all summer. We are also currently under an excessive heat warning for the immediate Philadelphia area, as seen in the picture below. Keep activity to a minimum today, and stay hydrated!

Isolated thunderstorms are also possible today, but especially tonight into the early hours of tomorrow. These storms have a chance to cause some flooding for the area. Otherwise, cloudy with lows in the low to mid 70s, and windy with gusts up to 30 mph.

Next Few Days

Tomorrow should bring us a little bit of relief, with highs only in the low 90s, and feels-like temperatures back to normal. Partly sunny, with some winds up to 20 mph. A chance of thunderstorms throughout the day is also possible. Mostly cloudy at night, with less wind, and lows just around 70 degrees. Storms also possible late at night.

Friday’s temps go down a lot, with highs in the mid 80s. Stormy for most of the day, and slight winds between 5 and 10 mph. Storms will continue into the night, and hopefully the lows will drop below 70 degrees!

The Shore

Rough out there today, with high winds near 25 mph (and gusts over 30 mph by this afternoon) and high wave heights up to 5 ft. Rip current risk is currently moderate. Warmer waters today as well, with some beaches exceeding 70 degrees. The marine dense fog advisory also continues, and will not dissipate until rain comes along at some point.

Tropical Activity

The remnants of Beryl continue to bring severe weather to the north-central half of the country, with extreme rainfall and tornado threats in New England and Michigan today.

There is a low pressure system that has formed along the coast of Florida and Georgia that has a small chance of forming, but could shake up the waters throughout the week.

Stick out the hot day today!
