Today
After a stormy weekend and a hot week, today will be nice and sunny! A weak high pressure system within our area will give us some sun with few to no clouds, a high of 91 degrees, and winds around 5 and 10 mph from the southwest. Late this afternoon and into the evening, a cold front will reach our area. Because of this, small pop up storms cannot be ruled out in the afternoon/evening. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low of 75 degrees and little winds.
Next Few Days
Showers and storms will return by tomorrow, along with the heat. There will be a high of 90 degrees, with feels like temps reaching up to 101 degrees. Small chance of passing showers in the morning, and clouds increasing throughout the day. A storm or two is possible in the afternoon, but most organized cells will come tonight. Storms will start around 5 pm and stay northwards (most southern part of storms will be in Burlington County) until early into Wednesday morning, where rain will be widespread for most of NJ. There will be a possibility of heavy rain within some of these storms.
Nighttime will have a low of 69 degrees and light winds. Up to an inch of rain is possible!
Wednesday will be cooler and rainy. There will be a high of 78 degrees, and winds between 5 and 10 mph. There will be a 70% chance of rain throughout the day, and we could accumulate up to half an inch.
The Shore
Lighter winds at the beach today, between 10 and 15 mph. Shorter waves than normal, between 1 and 2 ft. Rip current risk remains a moderate risk. Water temps are in the upper 60s, and should begin to rise for the month of August!
Tropical Activity
Hurricane Debby has officially been named as it has reached the Gulf side of Florida as a category 1. Georgia’s Coast will be hit this evening, and it will continue to move north along the coast. If it stays on path, it will reach NJ by Friday morning.
