Strong storms and downpours Saturday evening, then a break in the humidity for a few days

Fireworks are “questionable” Saturday evening as a cold front will likely bring tropical-like downpours to South Jersey. Sunday night and Monday night look much better!

There’s also the threat of severe weather late in the day Saturday. Some storms could produce damaging wind gusts. The timing of severe storms will be from 2 to 5 p.m. across Philadelphia and our northwest counties to 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. across the mainland and coastal counties..

The National Weather Service shows around one inch of rain Saturday evening into Saturday night across much of South Jersey! There’s a decent chance that firework displays will be delayed (if not canceled) for Saturday evening, as Mother Nature will put on her own fireworks show! Again, Sunday night and Monday night look much better for firework shows!

Dew points will be TROPICAL AND OPPRESSIVE through Saturday. Think of a sponge and the atmosphere ringing out all the available moisture. This is why we will see heavy downpours Saturday evening. However, cooler and drier air will build into the region for Sunday and Independence Day! The dew point meter is a little on the conservative side and could be in the 50s, especially on Monday. This will be a nice treat before the heat and humidity return by the middle of next week.
