Some more sun, but up the humidity!

Today

Another beautiful summer day today, but a lot less mild than we’ve seen the past couple of days. A high of 88 degrees with light winds from the west and higher dew points will feel hotter and muggier than yesterday. The high pressure system near us moves out of the area tonight, but will keep us dry for the day today. With that being said, a low pressure system will begin to enter the area tonight. Partly cloudy for nighttime, with a low of 66 degrees and light winds. Clouds will build over the night, and some areas could see a shower or two past midnight.

The muggy meter and precip chances for the next few days, showing an increase in dew points and precip for this weekend.

Next Few Days

As the low pressure system starts to make way towards us, we will see an increase in dew points, and a higher chance of precip and storms. Tomorrow should stay mostly dry, but have some scattered t-storms during the late afternoon/early evening. A high of 84 degrees, and windy, with gusts over 20 mph. Dew points will also make it feel a lot muggier than Wednesday and Thursday.

Nighttime will be mostly cloudy with a low of 69 degrees. Windier for nighttime as well, between 5 and 10 mph from the south. Scattered showers and thunderstorms expected.

Sunday will have the muggiest dew points, and the most chance of organized storms. Mostly cloudy with a high of 83 degrees, and windy, with gusts up to 20 mph. Storms are most likely during the late afternoon to early evening. A cold front later during the night will end the higher dew points by Monday.

The Shore

Beach conditions will be mixed up from Ernesto, with wave heights starting off between 2-3 ft, and building to 2-4 ft this afternoon. There will be a chance of wave heights exceeding 5 ft tonight. Winds over 10 mph with gusts over 20 mph, so decently windy as well. This will warrant a moderate rip current risk for now, which should update to high by tomorrow. Water temps stay around 70 degrees today.

Tropical Activity

Hurricane Ernesto will stall over Bermuda for this afternoon into tonight, bringing strong winds and excessive flooding. As mentioned before, Ernesto will stay far off the coast, but will still impact the surf of NJ with strong rip currents.
