Derecho confirmed Monday night across Ohio Valley

The Storm Prediction Center has confirmed Monday’s storm event has officially been classified as a derecho. The severe thunderstorm complex traveled from Southern Wisconsin and traveled southeast into Southwestern Virginia, producing wind gusts 60 to 100 mph!

A Derecho is a widespread, long-lived wind storm that extends at least 400 miles and 60 miles wide. Wind gusts must be at least 58 mph along most of its length, with several significant wind reports of 75 mph or greater.

Fort Wayne International Airport reported a wind gust of 98 mph!

Here is a video from the derecho moving across Indiana and Ohio. This person was very brave and we do NOT recommend anyone doing this. Stay away from windows and move to the center portion of your home during severe weather!
