Today
Debby is here! Most of the day should be cloudy with some peaks of sun until remnants of Debby enter the area around 3-4 pm today, and last until around 8 pm tonight. We are currently on the eastern side of the system, which has had a history of severe weather. This could contribute to some severe weather for today. Our area is currently under a tornado watch, as well as a flood watch, and wind advisory. Any of these bands of storms could produce heavy rainfall, with up to 2 inches of rain. So to sum it all up for today, sun and clouds until 2/3 pm, and then strong winds, and a chance for flooding and possibly a tornado in the area. Stay weather aware!
The high for today is 84 degrees, with winds between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts up to 40+ mph. Besides storms tonight, the low will be around 69 degrees with winds between 15 and 20 mph.
Next Few Days
After the low pressure system moves out today, high pressure will replace it and bring us clear and sunny skies. Tomorrow will be sunny with a high near 86 degrees and light winds. Nighttime will also be clear, with a low of 63 degrees! The coldest we’ve seen in awhile. Light winds as well for the night.
Sunday will be the same, along with the next week or so. Sunny, light winds, and a high of 84 degrees.
The Shore
Because of Debby, the beach will see some changes in a few things. First of all, rip current risks are HIGH today! This is partly from the strong winds, which will be between 25 and 30 mph, with gusts even higher. Water temps should still be in the lower 60s. Be careful at the shore, there will be lots of storms and dangerous waters!
Tropical Activity
Post Tropical Cyclone Debby should be moving off the continent within the next few days.
We are now focusing on a possible formation within the next week near the Lesser and Greater Antilles. There is a 60% chance of a tropical depression forming, but it should move west towards the Caribbean and Central America.
