Hope you got out and enjoyed yesterday, because today is a different story.

Today

Scattered rain hangs around for a good chunk of the day. Low pressure and a cold front are moving through. No thunderstorms expected, just steady rain in spots. The best shot at it, and even some downpours, is closer to Philly.

The good news is the flooding concern has come down a lot from earlier forecasts. Some ponding is still possible under the heavier stuff, but widespread flooding is not expected.

The front comes through this evening and overnight, and the steadier rain slides south of us.

Looking Ahead

Monday, that front stalls to our south and we stay on the cool side. Still not sure exactly where it parks, and that decides how much rain lingers early in the week. Farther south, especially Delmarva, has the better chance for more showers. Up north you might catch a few more breaks. Either way, below normal temperatures look pretty likely, with a cool and cloudy-ish stretch through the middle of the week.

Then we turn to the coast. Another disturbance out of the Ohio Valley could help a low develop off the East Coast Wednesday into Thursday. Where it forms and how close it gets is the big question. A closer track could mean another round of rain and gusty winds Thursday into Friday. Winds off the ocean that keep blowing could also bring some coastal flooding concerns later in the week.

Lots of moving pieces on this one, so we’ll be watching it closely over the next few days.
