Today’s the break we’ve been waiting for… kind of. Cooler, cloudier, winds swinging out of the northeast, and temps running five to ten degrees lower than what we’ve been dealing with. That’s the good news. A few showers or storms will try to sneak in, but the air mass is more stable this time around, so the severe threat should stay pretty limited. Conditional, really. Not zero, just not the kind of day where you need one eye on the radar all afternoon.
At the Beach
Shore’s going to feel the cooler air too, especially early with that northeast wind kicking around. And here’s a bonus… that same wind keeps the flies and bugs away to start the day. Bug free mornings, finally. Problem is winds shift back to the south later on, and once that happens, don’t be shocked if the flies find their way back to the beach by afternoon. Enjoy the morning while it lasts.
Looking Ahead
Tomorrow’s where it flips again. Front lifts back north, humidity comes roaring back, and we’re talking widespread upper 80s to mid 90s with heat indices climbing into the 90s, maybe topping out around 100 to 105 in spots. Another Heat Advisory could end up getting issued somewhere in the region, wouldn’t be surprised.
And the storms come back with it. Strong to severe Thursday, Level 2 of 5 risk across parts of the area. Damaging winds, large hail, even a couple tornadoes can’t be ruled out. Keep the weather app handy that day. Friday, we’re not totally out of the woods either… a few more scattered storms possible before things settle.
Then, finally, the payoff. Labor Day weekend is shaping up nice. Front pushes south, Canadian high pressure moves in behind it, and most of the weekend looks dry with lower humidity and temps sitting near or just below normal. Feels like we earned that one.
