Yesterday was a doozy, right? Yikes. Today’s better, but I’m not ready to give you the all clear just yet. That cold front is still parked right on top of us, so there’s a chance we see some storms fire up, especially early to mid afternoon. Wouldn’t be shocked if a few spots get hit with some heavy downpours out of nowhere. The moisture’s still there to work with, dew points sitting in the 70s, so when something does pop, it could pop hard.

Now, most of us probably stay dry. I want to be clear on that. But the chance is real enough that I’m not going to pretend it isn’t. Skies will be a clouds and sun mix, nothing too bright out there today. Highs climb into the lower 80s.

At the Beach
As that front slides east this afternoon, some of these storms could end up heading right for the coast. So if you’re planning on laying out today, just keep one eye on the sky and one ear open for thunder. Not saying don’t go, just saying be smart about it. Honestly? The weekend’s going to be a much better bet for beach days.

Overnight
Once we get past today, it’s smooth sailing. Temps drop to around 70, skies clear right up. Really nice evening on tap.

Looking Ahead
Saturday and Sunday, that’s when it gets good. Partly sunny, lower to middle 80s, exactly the kind of weekend you want. And get this, we’re looking at highs right around 90 for the first few days of September. Summer’s not done with us yet.
