Buckle up, because we’re kicking off a long stretch of hot and sticky weather today, and it’s not messing around. Highs pushing into the low 90s, and we’re stuck there for SIX or SEVEN days straight. That number by itself isn’t even the worst part. Add dew points climbing into the middle 70s and things get ugly fast. REAL FEEL temps around 100. Gross. Genuinely unhealthy to be outside for more than a few minutes at a time.
Rain-wise, we’re mainly dry today. Mix of sun and clouds overhead. Can’t totally rule out a spotty shower or a thunderstorm popping up somewhere, and if one does fire, heavy downpours would be the main concern. But 90 percent of the area stays dry.
At the Beach: Moderate chance of rip currents, so be smart in the water. High tide rolls in early afternoon. Winds out of the south to southwest will stir up some upwelling, so that warm ocean water probably cools off a bit by mid to late day.
Overnight: Middle 70s, and very soupy. Not much relief once the sun goes down.
Looking Ahead: Tomorrow looks dry for most of the day, but a shortwave trough works through late day and brings a chance of rain and thunderstorms mid to late day. We stay unsettled into Saturday. Sunday through early next week calms back down… quiet, still humid, before another chance creeps in by the middle of next week.
Rinse and repeat on that heat, folks. Stay hydrated out there!
