Well, it was nice while it lasted. A good 4 day stretch of NOTHING going on… and now we’re in for a change. First thing you’ll notice heading out the door Tuesday? The humidity’s back. Kinda hugs you like a blanket, right? Dew points climb back into the middle 70s, and any shower or storm that fires up is going to have A LOT of moisture to work with. Flash flooding is our number one concern, gusty winds are right behind it.

On the Roads
Flash flooding is the headline today… watch for ponding on the usual spots. Gusty winds could also give you a jolt if you’re driving high profile vehicles.

Today
We’ve got a strong area of low pressure, a cut-off low, pivoting through the area Tuesday. It’s going to pull moisture in off the ocean and set up areas of downpours. Today’s rain looks more widespread than yesterday’s, just given the amount of energy in place. The downpour window is really all day long, but that doesn’t mean it rains all day in every town. One spot could pick up 3″+ and the next town over gets sprinkles. It’s just how this whole season has played out, over and over.

Keep an eye to the sky and an ear open for thunder in the distance.

At the Beach
Moderate chance of rip currents today. If you’re headed down, you may be able to squeeze some time in since a lot of the activity looks to set up west of the parkway. Not a total washout at the beaches, but there too you’ll likely see areas of rain move on through.

Highs top out in the lower 80s. Muggy and uncomfortable whenever it’s not raining.

Overnight
We drop into the lower to middle 70s tonight.

Looking Ahead
Some lingering rain is possible Wednesday before things really turn around for Thursday and right into the weekend!
