Happy Thursday! We’ve got an AWESOME sauce kinda day on tap across our area today, tomorrow, and right on into the weekend. Truly! Waking up to temps in the middle 60s this morning, and the humidity? Gone. Just gone. Dew points through the day will sit in the 50s, same story tomorrow. By late July standards that’s downright refreshing. Add in tons of sunshine, blue skies, calm winds… high pressure is running the show over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, and it’s doing it well.

The Pattern
Look for highs in the lower to middle 80s for the next several days. That puts us at, or even a touch below, average. And this isn’t a one-and-done deal, that pattern likely holds into early August. No intense heat lurking out there that I can see.

At the Beach
Heading to the shore? Moderate risk of rip currents, so stay aware out there. Water temps should tick up a bit as the wind shifts out of the northeast. Bugs? Not a concern. They’ll get pushed back onto the marshes where they belong.

Drought Update
Now here’s some real good news. The drought is getting better. Much better. Southern Cape May County picked up 5 to 7 inches of rain, and that should knock the extreme drought designation down to moderate, maybe even just abnormally dry in spots. We’re not done dealing with this drought yet… but compared to where we stood a few weeks ago? Night and day. Next shot at rain looks like early next week.
