Happy Tuesday… eh, not exactly a TERRIFIC Tuesday, unfortunately. We’re running the risk of some severe weather later today.

Here’s the deal: not everyone is going to see a strong or severe thunderstorm. That’s just not how this works. We’ll likely see some SCATTERED strong storms across the viewing area. Some spots get pounded, others get little to nothing. THAT is how it works.

Today
Look for showers and storms popping up mid to late morning, then again in the afternoon and evening. Those afternoon and evening storms are the ones that’ll likely turn severe.

The big question I’ve got: how much cloud cover are we dealing with? Clouds INHIBIT convection, which LESSENS the severe weather chance. More clouds means weaker storms. But if the sun breaks out for even a couple hours, the atmosphere charges up and that severe risk climbs. Any way you slice it, the baseline here is storms capable of producing flash flooding rains and gusty winds.

Highs top out in the lower to middle 80s this afternoon. It’s not going to rain all day, so don’t write off the whole day.

At the Beach
Heading down? You’ll likely be able to squeeze in some time. Southeast winds, no bugs, some sun in the mix… the chance of rain arrives later at the shore than it does inland. Moderate rip current risk, so keep an eye on that.

Overnight
Lingering showers overnight into Wednesday. Lows drop into the lower to middle 70s.

Looking Ahead
Thursday looks great. Friday and into the weekend look good too… low humidity, partly sunny skies. Good stuff!!
