We’ve got a hot and humid Sunday on tap across the region. We’re starting out in the 60s, but you’ll feel the humidity climb through the day as that southerly flow returns. Highs will head toward about 90 on the mainland, with 80s at the beaches.
The Setup
Partly sunny skies stick with us through early afternoon, and then the window for storms opens up after 3pm. Through the evening hours, we could see some thunderstorms that pack a punch for SOME of us. Just like the past few days, the impacts are more scattered than anything else and will NOT be the same universally across the board. The best chance for strong to severe thunderstorms sits closer to Philadelphia and the western sections of our viewing area.
What to Watch For
Any thunderstorm that does manage to roll through could bring damaging winds, frequent lightning, downpours and yes, even a tornado. As what’s called a meso-low tracks by our region, there’s a little extra spin in the atmosphere, so some of these storms could rotate.
The good news? The storm threat dies down after 8pm, and we should turn relatively quiet after that.
The Week Ahead
Monday through Wednesday are looking good… lower humidity and temps back in the 80s. Our next chance for strong thunderstorms holds off until the Thursday timeframe, when a powerful storm tracks across the Great Lakes. Temps this week stay generally right around average.
Stay cool and keep an eye to the sky this evening!
