Happy Thursday friends! We’ve got a blahhhhh kinda day on tap across the region today. Not horrible by any means. No major storms, no washout, no crazy weather issues. It’s just simply not as nice as yesterday.

Temperatures take a step back today with most spots topping out in the middle 60s. The cold front that delivered some rain last night is still lingering offshore, and it’s close enough to toss some extra clouds back in our direction through the day. Closer to the shore, there could even be a little low level moisture around with some mist or drizzle at times, especially through the morning hours.

That said, I am cautiously optimistic we’ll squeeze out at least some patches of sunshine later today as the atmosphere slowly tries to improve from west to east. Winds shift out of the west-northwest behind the departing system at around 10 to 15 mph, adding a slightly cooler feel to the afternoon.

Tonight turns quieter with temperatures dropping back into the lower 50s under mostly cloudy skies.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, we may wake up to more clouds and perhaps even a little fog in spots, but conditions improve through the afternoon. We should break out into partly sunny skies with highs climbing back into the 70s.

And then? Summer starts knocking on the door in a BIG way.

• Temperatures surge into the 80s on Saturday
• Starting Sunday, we begin a stretch of days in the 90s on the mainland
• Humidity levels increase noticeably heading into next week
• The first heatwave of the season may be coming to a town near you

To sum it all up, today is cooler and cloudier with maybe a little mist or drizzle near the coast, but conditions gradually improve through the day. Tomorrow looks better with sunshine returning in the afternoon, then we launch into a much hotter pattern this weekend with potential heatwave conditions arriving next week.
