Happy Monday!
Hoping to Cash in on some Heavy Rain today
Let me cut to the chase here for a second…models, ALL of em, have been historically bad as of late. A lot of it has to do with the changes at NOAA and lack of important data. In speaking with colleagues all over the country, they are dealing with the same exact thing. From CA to TN and LA into the Plains…less data (balloons not going up) means models are going to be less accurate.
This is why I said 3 days ago that 3″ of rain would be amazing IF it verified and I commented that I did not know if it would verify.
Now, let’s breakdown exactly how HORRIBLE this forecast has been…
Mid-week there was NO rain. Then all of a sudden every model jumped on the idea that the weekend would be a washout. Clearly, that was not the case, and we told you that it would likley not be the case…then the models backed way off.
The heaviest rain was originally going to miss us over DC and Baltimore, then be HERE…then into the Poconos…now it’s heading into New England.
Still looks like we’ve got areas of rain to come for today and tomorrow so that’s good…but won’t be nearly as much as forecasts called for a few days ago. I’ll be happy if we end up with the low end of MY forecast which was a little over 1″. Fingers crossed!
Can you feel my frustration?
Only going to get worse I fear. We need TONS MORE data…not less. I’m very concerned about what this all means going into Hurricane Season.
Look for temps in the 60s this afternoon, cloudy when it’s not raining. Similar weather overall tomorrow.
